Talibon's Diocese Administrator Ordained Bishop for Tagbilaran City
The episcopal ordination and consecration of Most Rev. Alberto S. Uy, Talibon’s most beloved Administrator, took place at the Most Holy Trinity Cathedral in Talibon on January 5, 2017, in simple yet solemn rites, by His Eminence Luis Antonio G. Cardinal Tagle, DD; in the presence of Most Reverend Bernardito C. Auza (Archbishop of Suacia and at the same time the Permanent Observer to the United Nations) and CBCP President Archbishop Socrates B. Villegas.
Other clerical dignitaries present were: Talibon Bishop Patrick Daniel Y Parcon, Rev. Msgr. Ignacio H. Reyes, Msgr. Bernard Rañoa, Bishop Emeritus Msgr. Christian Vincent Noel. Governor Edgar M. Chatto, Mayor Restituto B. Auxtero and other LGU Talibon Officials were also present.
Aside from the dignitaries mentioned above, the Cathedral was full-packed with prelates, nuns and the faithful hailing from neighboring Dioceses, not to mention the Talibongnons themselves.
The whole ceremony lasted for two hours followed by a Luncheon Program at the nearby Talibon Multi-Purpose Gymnasium.
The night before his ordination, a testimonial dinner was held in his name at the ChelAnne’s Gardens. The day after the ordination, he was installed as the new Bishop of the Diocese of Tagbilaran. He has been appointed by the Holy See to fill up the Bishopric after the resignation of Bishop Leonardo Y. Medroso from the pastoral governance of the Diocese of Tagbilaran (Philippines).
Bishop-Elect Alberto S. Uy was ordained a priest on April 14, 1993 for the Diocese of Talibon. His assignment as Administrator started upon the installation of Bishop Patrick Daniel Y Parcon as 2nd Bishop of the Diocese of Talibon. Active in his apostolate of building houses for the extreme poor, he immediately gained friends and followers both in social media and locally. He will be direly missed by all who experienced his loving pastoral care. (ellenmarieobuno)
