Talibon Municipal Officials Took Oath of Office
Newly elected and re-elected municipal officials took their oath of office within the Eucharistic Celebration done at the Blessed Trinity Cathedral at 8:00 o’clock in the morning of June 30, 2016; as has been the practice since time immemorial. Mass was officiated by Rev. Fr. Cosme Damian R. Almedilla, in the absence of Bishop Patrick Daniel Y. Parcon, D.D.
Newly Elected Officials were: Mayor Restituto B. Auxtero (Re-elected), Vice-Mayor Cleto R. Garcia (new), and Councilors: Ma. Junette E. Loma (new), Janette A. Garcia (new), Dave A. Evangelista (Re-elected), Expedito F. Abuan (new), Concordio R. Evangelista (Re-elected), Jerald P. Taneo (re-elected), Apolinario E. Artiaga (new), Corcillano C. Palange (Re-elected).
Mayor Auxtero was the first to take oath followed by the Vice-Mayor. Both were administered by Judge Marivic A. Trabajo-Daray while surrounded by family members. The Councilors, accompanied by their family members, took their Oath of Office in front of Judge Azucena C. Macalolot-Credo.
The Holy Mass continued after the Oath taking. After its culmination, the officials, their families and some of the employees proceeded to the Municipal Hall and went directly to the SB Session Hall for the Turn-over Rites.
The rites were brief and precise and progressed after the rationale was given by Mrs. Maura M. Justol (MLGOO). Before the ceremonial key and box was handed over to the Mayor, Engr. Lorenzo Flores was called to give a brief overview of the infrastructure projects undertaken by LGU-Talibon. The financial scenario of LGU-Talibon was also presented by the Municipal Accountant, Anneli B. Magbanua.
After being handed the ceremonial key and box from the Transition Team, Mayor Auxtero took the floor and thanked all his supporters for making him the FIRST 3rd-termer Mayor in Talibon. His speech was short. He promised the full essence of his speech during the Inauguration Ceremony which followed later at the CPG Multi-Purpose Center.
SB Documents (made up of 2 books and the wooden gavel which symbolizes authority and leadership) were then turned-over by outgoing Vice-Mayor Epifanio F. Quimson to the new and incoming Vice-Mayor Cleto R. Garcia and an Inaugural Session was played out. A fixed schedule for succeeding sessions was set before calling for adjournment.
Everybody proceeded to the CPG Cultural Center where the officials met the people of Talibon. Each gave short talks and expressed their heartfelt thanks for the support during the polls. All present were treated to packed lunches afterwards. (ellen marie o. buno)
