Origin of the Name "Bagacay"

A place by the seaside overlooking the island of Mahanay, Tambo, and Guindakpan. This has been a peaceful barangay, where the hissing sound of the bamboo leaves can be heard even at a distance but nobody knew what this place was.

Due to the abundance of the bamboo specie at the hillsides, the early inhabitants called “bagacay”. This peaceful and progressive place is still named Bagacay up to this day.
